a colleague wanted to know the following, and unfortunately I don't have an iPad myself so thought I'd ask here on his behalf:
He has a Wifi ipad, but he's going travelling, and there is no wifi access there.
He wanted to know if there was a way to connect his ipad to the internet.
I thought there might be something like a 3G dongle for ipad? (like there are for laptops) - or perhaps use a normal 3g dongle, but with an adapter so it can be hooked up to an ipad?
like I said, I know almost nothing about ipad accessories, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

When there's no available Wi-Fi, using a cellular dongle to access the internet from your Mac is a good alternative. The connection speeds providers offer nowadays are more than enough for you to enjoy video streaming and other data-heavy activities. Sometimes, a 3G/4G cellular data connection is faster than certain Wi-Fi hotspots! Here are the steps to access the internet by connecting a 3G/4G dongle to your Mac.
Hardware requirements: 3G/4G dongle
NOTE: macOS or OS X can be restrictive. Some users will find issues adding connections to their mac. In these cases, get in touch with your network adapter manufacturer for further support.

Step 1: Connect the 3G/4G/LTE dongle through a USB port to your Mac. Open Network via System Preferences on your Mac and Create a New Service by clicking the + icon. A New Service pop-up will appear; under the Interface drop-down, choose your 3G/4G/LTE dongle and click Create.
Please note, when Creating a New Service, the Service Name can be customized to your liking. However, the Interface may show a different Mobile Network Adapter name than shown here. If you're unsure of the New Service that you need to create or the Interface does not show a Network adapter, then you should contact your dongle manufacturer or your cellular internet service provider.

Step 2: Ensure that you are connected. On the left-hand side, your 3G/4G dongle should show a Connected status; this means your Mac is now set up to use your 3G/4G dongle.
